Figure section, bar 1-8, that varies through the dance. 1' figure (apart from the introductory big circle) is ladies' circle clockwise. Walking, maybe side walking. |
|
bar 1-8 | 2' figure: gents' circle clockwise.
(Clockwise is called sun wise in Danish folk dance, naturally for a country to the north). |
|
bar 1-8 | 3' figure: ladies' circle anti clockwise (= counter clockwise).
bar 1-8 | 4' figure: gents' circle anti clockwise.
bar 1-8 | 5' figure: big circle (of the quadrille) anti clockwise
bar 1-8 | 6' figure: couple wise dance around on the spot for all couples,
face partner join hands in 2 hands hold, walking or side walking. The dance and the music end here in bar 8 after the first phrase, (which is common in Danish quadrille dances, and often (but not in this dance) with music ending not tonic). |
The melody is played 6 1/3 times, or according to the number of figures selected.
Forget about details of right and left foot where it does not matter,
and enjoy the dance.
Does your "opponent" show confusion about what hand to use in the chain,
or even walks the wrong way, then have a fun time.
