Animation of the dance

Høstdans (Harvest Hopsa)

  • Dance of couples
  • hop steps  (2 hops per bar)
  • The dance is in 2 sections: a, b :
    • a: bar 1-4 tyrolese hopsa
    • b: bar 5-8 hopsa around, normal position
  • or omit the tyrolese, and just dance hopsa around all the time
Hopsa is danced in this way to (almost) all hopsa melodies.

Høstdans (Harvest Hopsa) - dance of couples, (an energetic dance)

. Basic steps Gent: 2 hops (= small jumps) on the left foot, 1 bar, + 2 hops on the right foot, 1 bar.
Lady: the same but: opposite foot.
In the hop my foot does not leave the floor, except when I want to show special youthfulness.
(Very skilled dancers may include an intermediate step with the other foot in between the hops, but it is anyway hard to find time for that with the speed I play hopsa).
bar 1- 4 tyrolese hopsa forward anticlockwise in line of dancing Tyrolese hopsa;
hops: 2+2 + 2+2
bar 5 -  hopsa around Hopsa around;
2 hops as shown here: gent: left foot, lady: right foot
bar - 8 hopsa around Hopsa around, 2 turns in all;
2 hops as shown here: gent: right foot, lady: left foot.
Then + another full turn with 2+2 hops.
This is all.
Then again tyrolese hopsa 4 bars + hopsa around 4 bars, and so on as long as the music plays.

The dance is repeated as long as pleased, (that is not too long).
